British businessman Sir Jim Ratcliffe is reportedly interested in buying English Premier League club Manchester United (MU). Sir Jim Ratcliffe has confirmed that he wants to buy a stake in Manchester United, with a view to taking full control of the club.
Ratcliffe's statement is believed to be responding to news that the Glazer Family are ready to release a small portion of their stake in MU. Ratcliffe himself is not a new figure in the world of sports. He is the owner of the football clubs Nice (France) and Lausanne-Sport (Switzerland), as well as the world's top cycling team, Ineos Grenadiers.
In addition, Ratcliffe is a billionaire figure who has a stake in the Mercedes Formula 1 team. In addition to liking jet land racing, he is also known to love soccer. Even Ratcliffe had planned to buy Chelsea from Roman Abramovich in May 2022.
Despite having tried to buy Chelsea, Sir Jim Ratcliffe insists he remains a Manchester United supporter. The only thing that made him not bid for MU is because the Glazer Family never intended to sell the club.
News that they are now considering selling a minority stake in United prompted a sharp rise in the club's share price, even after a disappointing start to the season under new manager Erik ten Hag.
Reported by Goal, the Glazer family is currently selling the club for 6 billion dollars. If it really sells for that price, then it will be the most expensive sale of a football club in history.
